Julie Siracusa has often joked that each time she finishes painting a leafy sea dragon, she promises herself she'll never paint another. The intricate details demand extraordinary patience, with every delicate curve and translucent layer requiring complete focus.

And yet... they always return.

Something about these mythical-looking creatures continues to call her back to the easel.
